Safety First
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.
Check that your Heating System thermostat is set to HEAT mode and the temperature is set above room temperature
Verify the Heating System has power by checking the switch and circuit breaker
Inspect the Heating System air filter and replace if dirty as restricted airflow can cause shutdown
Check if the Heating System pilot light is on or if ignition system is attempting to fire
Look at the Heating System for any error codes displayed on the control board or thermostat
If the Heating System still won't produce heat, call for emergency service immediately
