Heating System High Limit Trip Emergency

The high limit switch on your Heating System has tripped. Use this emergency troubleshooting guide.

5 Emergency Steps

Follow these emergency steps in order. If at any point you feel unsafe, evacuate and call for help immediately.

Safety First

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.

Turn off your Heating System and allow it to cool down for at least 30 minutes

Replace the Heating System air filter if dirty as poor airflow causes high limit trips

Check that all Heating System supply registers are fully open and not blocked

Verify the Heating System blower motor is operating at the correct speed

5

Call for Heating System service if the high limit continues to trip after addressing airflow
